Stepping into the vibrant heart of New York City as a press photographer for the first time during New York Fashion Week was an adventure I'll never forget. My journey into runway and fashion photography is just beginning, with the Runway7 Fashion Show marking only my second time capturing the allure and glam of a fashion event. Yet, this experience was beyond anything I could have imagined—far surpassing my expectations and leaving me with memories and insights that have enriched my path in photography.

Held at the iconic Sony Hall, the show was a feast for the senses. The venue was transformed into a fashion paradise with wall-to-wall screens, a beautifully lit runway, and a sound and lighting setup that perfectly complemented the stunning designs showcased. Though it was my debut in New York City, and I was eager to explore its endless wonders, I ensured to attend a few meticulously selected shows. Each presentation was a testament to the incredible talent and creativity of the designers, with celebs and major influencers gracing the event, adding to the electric atmosphere.

Being in the press pit offered a unique vantage point. On my first night, despite the rush and the slight hiccup at check-in—where the absence of a confirmation email almost hindered my entrance—the original email I presented quickly resolved the issue, earning me a media badge. Inside, the media pit was buzzing with activity. Naively, I made my way to the front, unaware of the unspoken rules of press photography etiquette. Fortunately, the community was welcoming; fellow photographers offered help and even a pop-up stool, making my first day an unexpectedly warm and friendly affair.

However, the following day taught me a valuable lesson in punctuality and respect among peers. My newfound confidence led me to arrive late, only to be redirected by staff to a less advantageous spot. It was a gentle reminder

of the importance of fairness and consideration for those who had been waiting. The message was clear: early arrival was key to securing a prime spot in the press area.

Determined not to repeat the same mistake, I arrived early the next day, only to find the competition for the best spots fiercer than I had anticipated. The main press box, located at the runway's end, offered the best view, but securing a seat there required the approval of the newly appointed head photographer. Just when I thought I'd miss another opportunity to capture the essence of the show, a familiar face from my first day vouched for me, turning the situation in my favor. Bringing donuts and coffee helped sweeten the mood and mend fences, showcasing the importance of small gestures in building and maintaining professional relationships.

The experience was not just about capturing fashion; it was about connecting with people, sharing stories and experiences, and learning from each other. The camaraderie I found among the photographers, especially with someone who was initially referred to as the "mean guy," revealed a community ready to welcome newcomers with open arms. His offer to share a prime spot and the subsequent conversations reminded me of the humility and kindness I encountered on my first day, highlighting the collective excitement and nervousness of capturing a major fashion show for the first time.

My time at the Runway7 Fashion Show was an extraordinary blend of learning, networking, and immersion in the dazzling world of fashion photography. It wasn't just about the beautiful designs, the glitz, or the glamour; it was about the human connections, the shared passion for photography, and the mutual support among peers. New York City, with all its splendor, was the perfect backdrop for an experience that has left an indelible mark on my professional journey. As I left Sony Hall for the last time, I carried with me not just a memory card full of stunning images but a heart full

of gratitude for the amazing opportunity and the wonderful people I met along the way.
